Balance Drill
Today I have for you a really simple drill to help you hit longer drives. All it involves is hitting balls (or swinging if you can’t hit any balls) with your feet together. That’s it — simple huh?
The reason you’re doing this drill is because it teaches you balance, along with teaching your hands to release through impact. It does this because obviously with your feet together your body is restricted in the swing, so therefore your hands have to take over. So here’s what you should do.
Grab an 8 or 9 iron and setup to a ball with your feet together. It’s a good idea to tee up a ball quite high when doing this exercise, as it promotes a flatter downswing. So once you’re setup to your teed up ball, simply swing about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way back and then swing through with about the same length follow through.
Balance Drill Task
- Hit balls (or just swing if you can’t hit balls) with your feet together. Do this for 15 minutes. By the end, try to hit some shots with your eyes closed to make it a little harder. :-)
