Tiger Woods sure is making news at the moment! :-)

And a lot of people are arguing about what he’s done, whether it’s right or wrong or any of our business.

Well, this is the way I’m looking at it.

I don’t care what Tiger Woods has done or not done. We are all sinners so I’m not going to jump down his throat on any of that. I will however express how very sad it must be for Elin and the kids right now. What a terrible situation for them.

Now on the privacy issue. This is the best quote I have found about whether Tiger Woods should have privacy or not over any of this. It’s a quote from the CEO of Google Eric Schmidt. In an interview with CNBC, Schmidt said….

“If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.”

That sums up all of this privacy talk up for me perfectly. And really that applies to all of us whether we’re in the public eye or not.

Before all of this I did think Tiger Woods was intelligent. He seemed like he was intelligent at least. But everything that has come out over the last week or so is making me come to the conclusion that I may have overestimated his intelligence. However as my wife said….intelligent people can make bad choices and intelligence does not equal wisdom. Wise woman. :-)

Now when Tiger Woods comes back to playing golf next year it is going to be an absolute circus as far as the media is concerned. I’m sure before that there will be the “Oprah” (or someone similar) interview to try and repair his battered image. I was just reading today that Gatorade is pulling the pin on its Gatorade Tiger Focus drink. Naturally they are saying they had it planned months ago anyway. :-)

What an unfortunate name for a drink in hindsight, along with Nike’s “Just Do It” slogan.

Anyway those are my current thoughts on this Tiger Woods situation. Let me know what you’re thinking is. By the way here’s a question to answer….do you think this is going to be good for golf or not and why?

Indeed it sad to see the debacle of Tiger unfolding in front of us.However one must not forget the inspiration that millions of kids over the world drew from his golf achievements.in one swift and immoral move he has destroyed this image and perhaps forever. Yes we are all sinners but when you are a global icon you must consider that all actions have their consequences. He is paying for it dearly and justly so.

  4. Sad times 4 Golf, but more importantly his family. It will be very, very interesting to see what impact that ALL of this will have on his game, when he does play, who knows he may struggle to come to terms with the entire saga. Lets wait and see how it unfolds.

For sure, your comment about “we are all sinners is valid” and I wouldn’t be the first to “cast the first stone here” but it seems to me that if only half of what we’ve heard is true, he’s becme a victim of his own “invincibility”. What’s tragic about folks like Tiger and Michael Vick, Pete Rose and many others is the tragic effect it has on the next generation. That’s what they should be indicted for and not their human frailties.

  8. Tiger is like every man. A human. A man have to do what a man have to do. No big deal over this matter. Important things ia that he still take care of his family. If he is powerful enough to take care of 10 more women…..let it be! just be a muslim.

  9. In my opinion Tiger Woods is a scumbag with a fantastic golfing ability. His affairs now number over 10, each with a different woman. What a great example for his children and for all the other youngsters that looked up to him.
    Sorry, he is a low life and I hope he looses all his sponsors. Please don’t give me the “we are all human and we all make mistakes” routine. That may apply to some, but not to the majority who do have morals and do respect their marriage.

    He chose to run with the devil. He chose to play the odds. He knew the risks. He made a choice (or choices), now he must live with it.

    Frankly, I’m surprised he got away with it for this long!

  11. I have some serious doubts as to the sanctity of the “marriage”. It strikes me as odd that the “prenup”, as I understand it, says if she sticks it out for 10 years, she gets $20million. Now with all that’s happened, reports are out that they renegotiated the contract, giving “Mrs” Woods $5 million upfront, shortening the original contract from 10 to 7 years, and increasing the payout to $55 million. I want to be her agent, sounds more like a professional athlete renegotiating her contract. My view may not be popular, but my feeling is that this was a “marriage” to give Tiger a better PR image. Be the model wife for 10 tears and you’ll net $20 million…and now that its public that you cat around, lets up the payout and shorten the time frame.
    Tiger should come out and put all the cards on the table, and be done with it…..the more he hides, the more stuff the rags are going to expose, and the public is going to want to dig. Come clean and lets move on.

  12. I can’t imagine how it could be good for golf but thankfully golf is not dependent for its health and popularity on the character of any one person. As far as giving him his space I am more than happy to.

    It can certainly be appreciated that Tiger is intelligent. You used that word, or variations of, 5 times one paragraph.

    One has to feel sorry for Elin, but she HAD to know, going into this marriage that she was marrying the most recognizable man on Planet Earth,who at the time was worth 1/2 a billion dollars, and now a billion, in 2009. I didn’t witness his “trangessions”, nor did you, and so how can we condemn him? To be sure, a man with that much power, money and influence is going to have pussy thrown at him daily, and I ask you, Nick, if it were you and you had that kind of influence on people, could you REALLY say no to it? I love my wife with all my heart and she is my soul-mate, and I’d like to tell you that I could I would never cheat on her. But I don’t have women flinging themselves at me.

    If Tiger is to be accused of ANYTHING, it would be in not telling Elin, before marriage, that his life is something she can’t comprehend, and some things are best unkown. Doesn’t make it right, or justified, or moral, but life rarely is.

    I’m not defending Tiger. I’m just saying. This is TIGER WOODS, most competitive, dominant, ass-hole since Jack Nicklaus (I’ll take Jack in a match between them). He controls all aspects of his life. This is a smear campaign from way higher above than either of us. Reason is not obvious, but will be divulged here in the next few months.

  14. Here we are again. Another supposedly “Role Model” making bad news. What are youngsters supposed to think? These kids (and adults) that held Tiger in high esteem. If all thats true about him having so many “lady” friends, then he will get all that he asked for. Who else but Tiger Woods, to bring shame on himself and the PGA Tour. Couldn’t we have seen something like this comming?

While I definitely agree with Mr. Schmidt’s comment and agree with you that what Tiger did was wrong and I, too, feel bad for Elin and the children, I still don’t think Tiger “let down the world” like the media is making it out to be. Tiger, in part, was made to be this invincible, impeccable star athlete primarily by the media – check out the golf channel, U.S. Network Television and what have you. All Tiger all the time. Did Tiger ask for that? I doubt it. Did Tiger deserve all that attention? Well let anyone else win 14 majors, 70+ tournaments, give the golfing world some of the most dramatic, clutch shots we’ll ever see, earn $1 BILLION due to his golf game, and single-handedly raise the level of interest in golf to the point that winning purses have increased by 400+% – all before the age of 34 no less – and see what kind of attention they get!

    I think what the media is doing by sensationalizing everything Tiger/Elin/mother-in-law right now and with the women coming forward looking to cash in that it, collectively, makes a major statement on the sad state of today’s society. The sad state of the media – anything for a story. No matter what it does to the subject of the story or said subject’s family. No matter how much said subject has done for society – with his foundation, public appearances, and the rush that anyone who has been so fortunate to see him has gotten. The movie “The Chase” comes to mind on what a joke the media truly is.

    Tiger will be back and will remind us why everyone pumped him up so much in the first place. I can guarantee there are some crystal clean, God-fearing, faithful husbands out there on Tour that we have never heard of. Why? The same reason why all of this will soon be forgotten on Tiger. Tiger wasn’t practically worshiped because he was believed to be a good husband and family man. He was treated like a golf god because he truly is the closest that any human in history has ever gotten to that lofty title on the golf course. I can say without any shred of exaggeration that NO golfer in history has EVER made me leave my couch and nearly put a hole in the ceiling with my head like Tiger has (see Masters #16 vs DiMarco).

    Tomorrow, whenever ‘tomorrow’ comes, will bring along a new ‘cool’ story to follow that the media will be tripping themselves over to cover. Tiger will be old news. 2 or 3 majors down the road and Tiger will be golf god again…just with a different spin.

    How often have you heard about dog-fighter Michael Vick 2 years after the fact? Not much.

  16. An affair is never right, however, it shouldn’t be paraded in public as it happens many times every day. If the news media gave a flip about Tiger or his family they would drop it and let them deal with it and heal in peace. They have enough to work through without the media rehashing it, looking for more details. I like Tiger a lot and I really don’t want to hear any more– just am praying for him and his family.

  21. I don’t condone what he’s done, if he’s done anything. The only one that has a right to judge him is his wife, him self, and the lord almighty. He’s still the number one golfer in the world and like him or not, he’s still brings the ratings and the bucks to golf. I beleive if it was’nt this, it would be something else that the media or someone else, would try to discredit him. Did they go after Fred Couples when he went through his ugly devorse, or did they dig in to Greg Normans split with Chris Everet, I don’t think so. I guess it had to be something to take down Tiger, because nobody seems to be able to on the golf course. It’s all about money and and who can tell the biggest story. The people who are judging Tiger, must think that they are living on a higher level and have the right to judge. BS.

  22. In a way I think this might be good for golf where the PGA seems to have created such an anally retentive set up for every one and every thing being holier than though? I am a conservative, traditionalist at heart, but consider some of the idiotic rules and regulations they are imposing. For example, I agree that players should be reasonably turned out, but why, for heaven’s sake, shouldn’t players be allowed to wear shorts when they play? If you stop and think for 5 minutes you will come up with a laundry list as long as your arm about behaviours and – and if you can’t think of them, just get a hold of their rules book. If it continues to treat players like imbeciles, they will behave like them.

  23. Hi Nick, Perhaps we should consider the basic instinct or hormonal level (from caveman days) that still influences us today. The role of the female in propagating and improving the species is to seek out the best male specimen to father her offspring. For cavewoman, that meant the alpha male, the leader, or the finest warrior. In modern times that translates to the community leader (politician), business leader (boss), sports leader (fit & highly skilled), wealthy (Dr Edelsten) and so on. Tiger is well up there in those criteria and is therefore quite inderstandably the target of women’s desires. Women doll themselves up to be attractive to the ‘best’ males and cocktail waitress is an ideal role for that. The basic role of the male in propagating the species is to spread his seed as far and wide as he can.
    Of course, we have societal rules (marriage, monogamy, etc) that help bring order to the management of these instincts. But it is understandable, although perhaps not excusable, when the basic instincts take over. Hell, if any of those gorgeous women claiming to have been with Tiger came on to me, they would find minimal resistance (and Hell might have frozen over, too).
    As for Gatorade, if Tiger gave any indication that it was responsible for putting lead in his pencil, the shelves would be emptied by the desperate public. The other products he is associated with are all male oriented and unlikely to suffer in the slightest from Tiger’s indiscretion.

    Any personal stuff belongs to him and his family: (perhaps in the Enquirer rag) not on golf sites.

I sure hope that Steve Lentz ,who wrote so many “jokes” into his blog is a professional joke writer because if he isn’t ,he is just passing trash and I have to wonder about his motive.There is nothing funny about the harm done to Elin,Tigers Mom ,his kids etc. Quite frankly it is none of my business but I thought I would respond to those who take great fun at the misfortune of others. Tiger is a great golfer and a mortal man.I feel sorry for his family.

  26. I read the first article when there was no evidence, I have not read any since. I am with you on this I really do not think it is any of our busines.
    Now that said, unfortunately the gutter press have a predeliction for dregiing down tall poppies and Tiger is one of the Tallest. Now the regular press has taken it up. it sells newspapers.
    Yes I feel for his wife and kids, mainly the kids, she is an adult and obviously had to know about what was going on, an of course made sure she was ‘compensated for the anguish) it is amzing what another $80 million or so will do to make you feel “better”
    Is it bad for golf? Golf generally is an honourable game, and the players reflect that. What other sport has players call penalties on themselves? Does that mean they are honourable in there private life? Obviously not! But Tiger is the pinnacle of that honour on the course, in his private life obviously not and he got caught, I doubt he is the only one. Should he have none it in the first place Obviojusly not but he is only human and we all have our own demons.
    If Tiger is affected by the unseemly attention he will get and his golf goes bad then it will be bad for golf. Will his sponsors run scared, probably. Are they honourable, I doubt it.
    This type of media which revels in smut will take no responsibility in destroying one of, if not the greatest player of the game. I do hope he is strong enough to shrug off the hounding he will get and continue to dominate his chose profession and continue to entertain us.

  27. Tiger is the best golfer there has ever been, and likely, will ever be, in the history of the game.

    However, as a man of honor and integrity, he is very lacking. He has done irreparable damage to his wife and innocent children.

    I will continue to admire him as a golfer while holding him in disdain as a man.

    I think that we do not need to know all the sordid details of his transgressions; that is his to deal with his wife… Just leave them alone to resolve this as best they can.

    I wonder if his Dad is looking down with a tear in his eye?

    I am very disappointed… that is the price of holding a man in high esteem for perhaps the wrong reasons.

  30. Tiger is suffering from what many do when they make too much money to fast and too young and don’t have the moral character training and upbringing. A nice guy, but just couldn’t handle it. Too many priviliges, too much adulation from the public and others. He got the big head, what is to be expected. He did not have the strong moral character that only time and religious (Christian)training can develop. Probably didn’t have any religious training of any kind. No real belief system of a higher power other than himself. He could do no wrong in the eyes of his parents who probably worshiped him just like the public did. Perhaps he was trying to fit in and be like so many other golfers with their pretty wives and cute kids waiting on the 18th hole after a victory, so he went off half cocked and married a pretty white girl just like all the other guys. Probably was somewhat self consious of his being only one or two golfers of color. Things came too fast and too easy for Tiger. Too much money and too much time. Tiger had everything material that anyone could possibly have or want, but even that wasn’t enough to make him a happy and contented person. He had everything in the material sense but nothing spiritual. He was empty inside and didn’t know how to fill that empty hole that only God can fill. He gave away lots of money to lots of people, but that satisfaction soon dissipated and he was right back to where he started. I feel for him and for his wife and especially for the kids. But, that seems to be the way things are in this day and age. Being rich doesn’t translate into happiness. You just can’t buy it. It’s not for sale at any price.
    So, good luck Tiger. My advice Tiger is to get on your knees. Turn your life over to Jesus Christ, and ask him to put some meaning and purpose into your existance, beyond just winning golf tournaments and making huge amounts of money. There are no sins too great that a loving God can’t forgive and forget. In fact, if you let him, he will mend your marriage and bring you and your beautiful wife and kids back together in real happiness and contentment. My fear though is that you won’t even try. If you make amends with God first, and then with your wife, the public will welcome you back on the golf course, and you will be a huge testimony to the power of the Almighty. My prayers are with you, your wife and your children. Tiger!!!: Stand up! Make amends! and let God.

    When you are a public figure, all positives and Negatives will be magnified.. Now, who suffers the most — his children!
    Next time Tiger, an urge affects a part of you — think of your children and all those others ( your foundation, those young adults who look up to you, etc )

  34. I am very dissapointed that Tiger has proven himself to be such a fool. I am not judging his behaviour but he surely must have known that he was playing with fire and was bound to be found out sooner or later. Perhaps his wife knew about his wandering ways already since I read that they were already having counselling about their marriage.

    The media circus is in full flight making a 10 course meal of it, and I can imagine it continuing for quite some time because that’s what they do!

  35. For me Tiger Woods represented something different, something more.
    Here was a man that had ascended to a level that seemed almost mystical.
    His golf ability was nothing short of amazing. It was like he had evolved to a higher level, a different plane of existence. The normal rules that applied to most of us didnt apply to him. He wrote his own life, the way it should be, the way it would be if we could be whatever we wanted it to be.
    Watching him made me feel that I could improve and dream and believe. I felt the whole world, make that the whole universe was changed and inspired by his example and what he had done. That we could be all that we could be. And Tiger was an example of that.
    Mostly it was his golf that gave him his stage, but, he seemed to have it going on in the other areas of his life as well. In business, developing his body, his mind and even his family life seemed more than just in order but driven to a higher level, a level that I wanted.
    I often found myself thinking “what would Tiger do?”. And I used him as an example many times when speaking to my children, when I wanted to teach them an important lesson in life and how they should think and behave and strive.
    Im not so much disappointed in Tiger himself. And I dont want to judge him.
    I guess im mostly disappointed in the fact that the near perfection he acheived in his golf didnt carry over to the other areas of his life the way I thought they did, and to a degree it kind of makes you think and realize that perhaps people in general as a whole have not really moved that far foreward as I hoped.
    I guess thats the thing for me. Tiger transgressions have dampened my “Hope” for myself and for mankind.
    Ya,I thought he was that big, at least I liked to hope he might be.

  36. I do not condone what Tiger has done but I still won’t be eager to watch golf each week that Tiger is not in the field. There has been many weeks that golf ratings were down when Tiger was not there. He has brought the ratings and pay outs up in the tournaments when in the field.

  41. Tiger is reaping the whirlwind. He took an oath just like millions of others of us did when he got married. He blew it and has to face the music. Now he’s just another one of the many rich jocks that can’t handle fame. Personally I thought that he and Phil were great examples of guys that were young and had loads of class. Now I guess there’s only one left. Perhaps the young guys coming up will see this as what can happen to a career if your morals are shoved down the toilet.

What Tiger wood does in his personel life should not be a subject for Media to give so much of attention and importance.It should be left to the family to sort out the problem if they have any.Now there will be many who will claim to have known Tiger wood and had affairs with him more to get their name known to the media.
    Only thought I have is for Tiger woods wife and Children.They are going through unexpected but inevitable test and I am sure they will come out with out having to suffer more.

  45. This is an unfortunate situation for Tiger and his family. Your bad choices affect many people. I pray that Tiger and his family can work through this with a great reconciliation. As for the public, it depends again on how Tiger handles the situation, and the steps he takes to make sure this will not happen again. Unfortunately, he has given the media ammunition to exploit a sports hero. That saddens me as I am sure there are some young golfers who wanted to model their lives to be like Tiger. After all is said, it is up to Tiger….I hope he makes the right choices now.

It is of course very regrettable that Tiger has entered the fray of being one of those sports superstars that have been caught up in this silly trap but it seems the vast majority do at some point. Name a sport that has not been plagued with this exact same thing. Jordan, Johnson, Bryant, Rodriguez and the list goes on and on. Heck our entire Minnesota Vikings team for a while had the highest arrest record as a team in the NFL! How proud are we?

    But lets not loose sight of our own sport. I was listening to some of the comments made some of the golf media over the weekend. They were talking about how golf had been saved from such scandal until now. What short memories they have. How many years have we been following the plights of John Daley. Let’s turn the clock back on the game and remember the days of Walter Hagen. He was not known for his sainthood – only his golf. Heck, we have even had our first drug related suspension. For those that say Tiger’s lily white persona has been tarnished forever, how bad was Michael Jordan’s career hurt? How about Coby’s? Magic Johnson? How about half the NFL, NBA, MLB, Nascar, F1. The reality is he will be measured by how he responds to it, not that he did it. As it should be. No, I would not want to be Tiger right now but anyone with the mental toughness he has displayed over the years is bound to figure this out and react in the right way. I wish him all the luck and look forward to him getting this behind him and we can only hope the morons of the media give him a little room and time.

  48. I think Tiger Woods’ dad would be mortified with his son’s behavior if he were still alive. Tiger has not only betrayed his wife and family, but also the parents who raised and sacrificed for him.

    As far as Erin and the kids are concerned, it will be very difficult for her to remain in the same house, given all the media attention and the increasing pace of new revelations. If she chooses to remain and weather this storm with him, Tiger had better think hard about his moral behavior from now on.

    My own personal opinion is that she would be better off packing up and moving back to Sweden with the children. Based on his behavior since this whole business was made public, I doubt he will ever be sexually loyal to one woman. Way too much ego there.

    Tiger apologized for his transgressions and most people associate these transgressions with the alleged affairs. As mentioned earlier, did anyone really see Tiger commit these affairs? Other than these women coming out of the woodwork saying they had an affair with Tiger, where’s the proof as some postings state? Have we as a society sunk so low as to believe tabloids displayed at checkout stands and almost automatically correlate affairs with transgressions because that’s what some these tabloids portray?

    I didn’t read all the postings, however has anyone ever considered may be the transgressions was mixing prescription medication with alcohol and then driving or not “coming clean” when all this happened? Tiger is considered one of the most physically fit golfers and to mix drugs and alcohol is not good for the body or mind. For example, whenever Tiger is in a tournament, it’s the Tiger show. They have to show every shot Tiger makes (good or bad) and ignore the rest of the field. There are other golfers out there hitting a shot and making a living, show them periodically! Another example is this past Masters. I forget the hole, but both he and Phil are paired together and each has hit their approach shots. The crowd is going crazy with cheers as they walk up to the green. Phil (almost embarassedly) acknowledges the crowd as he is walking up. Tiger, nothing. Looked straight ahead, didn’t acknowledge anyone. Here is a guy that makes his money off other people and he ignores them. What a SOB. Plus, how many people out there realize that he is the most fined player for his language on the course. Tiger drops more “eff” bombs out there then anyone else. Maybe they should be like soccer, give a yellow card. After a few yellow cards, you get a red card and are suspended from playing the game.

    As far as the fooling around. Once you’re married, you don’t do it! He has a beautiful wife and wonderful family. If he couldn’t get enough at home, hire a prostitute. In the long run, it’s cheaper. Most prostitutes won’t talk, due to their profession and going to jail. And if they do, look at the source and it goes away pretty fast where an affair sticks around.

  93. I am probably the biggest fan of Tiger Woods, THE GOLFER. I am not now, nor have I ever been enamored with Tiger Woods, THE MAN (or any other entertainer or athlete for that matter). I admire great golf from any player, and Tiger managed to play the game of golf better than anyone for the last decade or so. That being said, I have never before nor would I ever purchase any product simply because it is/was ‘Tiger Approved’, so his image and endorsements truly meant nothing to me… and STILL doesn’t.

They will be suffering long after most people have tuned into the next media-hyped scandal.) I think that it will effect him and his play, because the media has tried to make him bigger, than the game of golf its self. I think that the golf tour will be better off in the long run, because it will now focus on other players. You will have the NBC’s trying to make excuses for his actions and to afford him cover. He has not tarnished the game but has made a fool out of all that sung his praises and supported him. To error with one woman, is questinable, but to have affairs with God knows how many different womem, I think that you then loose all credibility as a family loving man, husban, and father. There is no way to explain his actions. I was never a big fan, but I will acknowledge that he was one of the greatest golfers ever to play the game, with a self gratifing commitment and a lust for different women.

  99. Yes feel sorry for his family and his SPONSORS. The bottom line is that he stole money from the sponsors. As a sponsor the price pay is linked to the persons talent/ability and public image. I do not believe that Nike and all the other sponsors would have paid millions of $$$$$ if they knew what he was doing when negotiating deals.

  100. I feel very sorry for Tiger, Elin, their children and the rest of their families. However, I would say this type of behavior is predictable. You cannot place young athletes on these pedistals and make them think they are above reproach in all things. Tiger was on TV when he was about 3 yrs young being touted as a golf protoge, what can you expect from a kid who is placed on such a pedestal when he is so young? It’s happenening to too many athletes. Sure, he’s an adult and should have better judgement; but, when you are raised and treated as though there are no rules for you, what do you expect? The money alone in sports is really way out of hand. We need to get back to reality as a society. A hundred million dollars a year for a guy who plays golf? Is it me, or is this crazy?

    As far as privacy goes! Tiger took all of the money that being such a public icon and celebrity brought him and now after making a series of phenomenally stupid choices he thinks that it's ok to go into hiding and have his privacy! so many people have spent so much money on products based on his image that they probably wouldn't have spent if they had known that he was such a hypocrite making these kinds of choices!

I’m waiting for the teary interview where he pleads his case and asks for forgiveness. They all do it. Wonder if that jerk who turns up at all PGA tournaments and yells “get in the hole” will be back stronger than ever with a new significance to his message. What would Arnie or Jack think about Woods’s behavior. Did you ever hear of any scandals when they were in the public eye. Or Hogan, Or Snead.   104. Tiger made his money in a public arena, golfing and being a spokesperson for products. People were willing to allow him to have it all without question and they supported him when his father died, when he was injured, even when he didn’t seem to treat people right.
    He became the first athlete to make 1 billion dollars, someone who makes that much money has a responsibility to the people who helped him make it. People bought products, went to tournaments, gave to his foundation, etc. He has let his foundation down, the people who worked so hard for the kids that he said he wanted to help, the companies that sold products with his image and support.
    It is a sign of the times that greed has blinded Nike, AT&T, and the other companies that sponsor Tiger. If they agree that he is not what he was portrayed to be then they might lose billions, but they want to continue to make it no matter what their “golden goose” has done, so they continue to back him. He is the best money maker they have ever had and to dump him would hurt the bottom, so the thinking goes. They are telling the world that as long as you can make us money we really don’t care what you do, everybody please get off his back and let things go back to the way they were is their hope.
    There is only one way to turn this around completely and that is to turn to the one who sacrificed His life so that we might live. If Tiger gives his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, he can be redeemed and he can have this turned around and then really give hope to all those children and adults who supported him.
    We all make mistakes and need to be forgiven, I do forgive him. In this world we will have tribulation as Jesus said, but only by believing in Him can we overcome the world.

Taking Jeffs’ commemts a little further I kind of want to think that with so much time allotted to golf and being a prodigy growing up, that one may not have the sufficient type and quantity of life experiences that allow one to develop “normally”, valuewise, behaviorally, relationally, and otherwise.

    The curious part is that of all sports, golf maybe be the one most identified with, dependent on and requisite of, personal integrity.

    So this affair (no pun intended) makes it even more unbelievable and distasteful.

    I could even be persuaded that at the level of excitement and pressure that Tiger operates under on a daily basis-just being Tiger, (particularly while playing) requires that in order to get some thrills out of life “off the course”, he would have to be pretty creative in pushing the envelope.
    I doubt that some more “visible” endeavors like base jumping, space tourism, auto racing, or free diving with Great Whites would sit well with sponsors vested interests.

    So what’s a lad to do ?? You find something behind closed doors…. I dunno, just a thought….

    I mean look at boxers like Sugar Ray Leonard, that “retired” and quarterbacks ? Michael Jordan? they try to come back to get that feeling again KNOWING they’re gonna get damaged.

    They can’t live without some kinda fix, those receptors are just too overdeveloped.

    I’m not defending his actions nor am I a fan, really, just trying to make some sense of it.

    One thing to remember though, is that Tiger is where he is due in large part to his unbelievable MENTAL TOUGHNESS and that is what will allow him to blow through this at some point,and keep moving on.

Mr. Woods is NOT too big to fail! He has lost 50% of his following, with more to come! He has likely sacrificed most of his self respect … pretty high price to pay? He still has to look at what he shaves in the morning. That must be punishing? His physical feats remain a compromised asset. ‘Sports Figure Of The Decade’ speaks poorly of the judges’ credibility.
