This lightweight Swingyde device attaches to your club, and here’s some pictures and a video which demonstrate how it looks when it’s attached.

Now this Swingyde device promises a lot of things but there is one thing it does really, really well.

And that is….it does reduce incorrect wrist cocking during the golf swing.

So if your wrist action is poor on the backswing and downswing then this Swingyde product is for you. And for the backswing I’m talking about either having too much wrist cock or not enough and letting your wrists go at the top of your swing.

Now, I don’t think this product is good for the follow-through because in the long game swing your left arm should NOT fold on the follow-through like your right arm does on the backswing. Unfortunately,Jim Flick and the inventor of this product teach you that it should.

Trust me, the left arm does should NOT fold on the follow-through, like the right arm does on the backswing. Take a look at great player’s swings and you’ll see that it just doesn’t happen.

The other big claim this Swingyde product makes is they say it can help you get the club on the correct swing plane. I must admit, Swingyde does “help” but you can still get the club on an incorrect plane with this thing. So don’t get Swingyde and think it’s going to solve your swing plane problems, because it most probably won’t!

Overall though, this Swingyde product does a good job for what it was designed to do. Just don’t get into your head that this thing is the “secret” to the golf swing. It will help but it’s not the secret and neither is anything else. If you get it, you should use it along with a combination of other things to have a great consistent golf swing.

Overall Opinion: Highly Recommended

  1. If one of the limitations is that it doesn’t promote a good follow through I am not sure it is good at all. Why support something that is only half good at best.

Further. $30.00 for a piece of plastic and a rubber band? YIKES!

  2. Irrespective of economics, I found this tool to be highly useful in helping improve both the depth of wrsit cock (meaning close to 90 degrees) but also the actual angle of my wrist cock in relationship to my arms (cocking my wrist up, not opening my wrists). It also provides, as Nick points out, clear evidence of when you are releasing the angle to soon. I care little about the follow through aspects of this because it doesn’t get in the way of a good follow through. I also suggest that you can use this tool in concert with other tools (like a medicus or Swing Fan) when you are trying to make swing more repeatable.

  3. I purchased this product and unfoutunatley it would not fit my grips (jumbo) or my hands which are very large, so it was of no use to me as are many of the other products out there, ie: Videos, contraptions and books. To get better at your game you neeed an instructor watching over you as he is the only one that can see and correct your faults.

  4. I purchased the swingyde a couple of years ago, and actually forgot I still had it until i seen this ad.I has having problems with were my hand and arms were suposse to be on the back swing ,I found my
my swingyde and within minutes I corrected my errors, great tool, will get you back in the swing real quick..

  5. I have used the swingyde the conventional way and liked it for setting the backswing, however, I found it really beneficial when I moved the swingyde to a 2 o’clock position on the grip. This helps me with my delivery position to the ball, it reminds me to keep a bent right wrist (and hence flat left wrist) through the ball and to hit the ball with my pivot rather than an arm slap. Excellent product.

  6. it’s a good review however it would be helpful if you also added tips on how to properly use it. All tools are good but it depends how it’s being used and what it is intended to correct.

  7. I bought one of these a few years ago and it didn’t help me one little bit.

I might dust it off again to see if it helps with the wrist cock on the backswing as Nick suggests.

Better to spend your hard earned on ‘good’ instructional dvds.Darrell Klassen and Clarke Spratlin are 2 I like and I just ordered Nicks
draw system which I am looking forward to

  8. I found the swingyde to be helpful on the wristcock in the backswing and hit some very straight irons. I cannot reconnect on the follow through, not even with a slow swing, but after reading Nick’s comments maybe that’ not a bad thing.

  9. I have used the swingyde for some time. It is good for the back swing and the wrist cock. It does not do anything for the swing plane and the finish.
