Today wasn’t the day I was meant to do a golf swing speed test but I felt like doing one. So I did
. And one big reason is because I have a new swing speed radar. You see, I had my suspicions that the SwingMate device I was using was not very accurate. So I purchased a Swing Speed Radar from Sports Sensors, Inc. And after testing these radar devices side by side I found out that the SwingMate was giving me crazy results. For example, on a couple of swings it was saying I was swinging at 96 mph and the Swing Speed Radar was saying I was swinging at 115 mph. Now by the distance I am hitting my driver 115 mph is much, much more accurate!
So I did this golf swing test today using the Swing Speed Radar and here is a video of my results…
OK, so I’m currently averaging 118 mph. I seem to be getting quicker but more on what I think the reasons are for this in a future post.
Have a great weekend.

Thanks guys.
Adding this swing speed to my swing has made it look a lot better in my opinion. Here’s the first golf swing speed test this year:

Compare those swings with today and there is a night and day difference.

All your previous data and hard work is now invalid – you will have to start the experiment again with your new device.
However, the upside is that your hard work was not in vain as the swing looks really good and smooth – I would settle for that anyday.

Doug, I believe SwingMate was accurate in the beginning. And the distance I was hitting the ball supported that. I also think the 17 mph increase (the first swing speed test) was accurate as I had done something similar before after doing flexibility exercises plus the increase in distance supported that result. And if you remember, after the second swing speed test I said that I felt my swing was faster but the result (2 mph loss) didn’t support that. That’s when I started to question the results from SwingMate. So I ordered the other swing speed radar to test the results and found SwingMate was very inaccurate now.
So I don’t think the data is completely invalid as you can visibly see the difference in swing speed from when I first started to now. But I do question that second speed test. As I said, it felt like I was swinging faster than in the 1st swing speed test. It also looked faster. I’ll have to do another four weeks of strength work (later in the year) and then compare the results.

It seems that your working very hard to increase your swing spped. In your ebook 5 Secrets to Maximum Distance you aluded to the program you designed to increase your swing speed. Since you keep on increasing it, swing speed, what can you share? Thanks in advance.
