I played a golf course today that I haven’t played since starting my quest for averaging 125 mph….and the difference between now and playing this course last year is like night and day! Increasing swing speed makes a huge difference to playing a golf course. For example, one hole is a short par 4 of 300 meters (328 yards). It has OB all down the left hand side of this hole so hitting a driver can be risky. Now last year on this hole I would hit a good drive (with a driver) and be left with a half wedge. Today playing the same hole I hit the ball on the green…pin high! 328 yards. That’s with no wind and not that much roll.

Also on par 5’s that I was struggling to hit in two with a long iron/fairway wood I was hitting 5 irons into them.

I have to tell you….the game is a lot more fun putting for eagle than it is having wedges into the greens.

So I have to say this again, the difference between playing this golf course last year and playing it now is like night and day.

So if you’ve been thinking about trying to increase your clubhead speed you should start now. Don’t put it off. I found golf a lot more fun today hitting these big drives and I’m sure you’ll enjoy golf more as well when you increase your clubhead speed.

I am lifting light weights, will that help to increase clubhead speed?

  6. Nick,
Your comments today about distance related to the increased swing speed reminded me of a question that keeps coming up in my mind. I see you take the swings into a net when checking you swing spped results. How is the accuracy factored in and how has it changed? I fit on the range because I found in a net, speed and projected distance took the golfer away from the primary purpose and direction became a forgotten factor.
I have a report on creatine that I got from the Fitness instructor at the college where I work that I would be glad to fax you if you are interested.
Thanks and keep up the great work,

Following a back operation on 3 discs at the end of 2006 I am getting back into the swing so to speak.
I’ll be happy to get back to 100 mph from about 85. However, I am getting longer 220 metres now gets me to fairway bunkers and water from the tee.
So I either have to get another 20 metres or so or revert to a hybrid and place the tee shot at about 190 meters on safe ground

  8. To increase my swing speed I’m doing active flexibility exercises and speed exercises. If you’re just starting out I suggest you start with active flexibility exercises. Here is a DVD set that has a lot of the exercises I’m doing:

And William, I found after 4 weeks of lifting weights that I did not increase swing speed.

Michael, as I said to you via email, my accuracy has not changed since increasing swing speed so drastically.

  9. sure, every golfer want to increase speed and maximise distance, but how.that is why all golf tip in text or in magazine always claim the secret and tips and it is just cheating.you can only increase your distance may be just 10-20yareds.But not just the book or dvd claimed 50 yards.

  10. I.ve been playing golf for 14 years.
During the middle years my handicap
dropped from about 22 to 13.The past
three years, I’ve been stuck at 17.
Part of my problem is the 200 or higher carry holes.I Need more distance, how do I go about improving
my alignment as well as my distance?.

  11. Yes I want to increase my driver`s dsitance…..

  12. Type your comment here.I did not learn a thing other than possible explaination on relaxing the left leg on the back swing and putting more pressure on the right leg and turing oveer it with a relaxed grip. Is this how to increase club head speed and keeping it on a single on a single plane. It appears to me if you take a club to the to and you try to get extra muscle in it drives you over the top. just hold the wrist cock and let the club drop will keep it on plane.and get you goo distance as well
