Professional golfers dig their feet in the sand when playing bunker shots to give themselves good footing in the sand.  And especially if the sand is soft YOU should do the same.  If you do not dig your feet into the sand strenuously enough then you will slip around losing your balance and this will make it very difficult to play good bunker shots.

When digging your feet in the sand you want to do so until your feet are restricted, so that very little movement can occur.  By digging your feet strenuously into the sand it will cause you to be closer to the ball so that you will have to grip down on your club to compensate.

The more stable base you can create when playing bunker shots the more consistency you’ll have.  So remember to dig your feet in until you create a solid secure base from which you can attack the bunker shot with confidence.
